Swirlydoos is now on Snapguide. What is Snapguide, you ask? It's like the Pinterest of tutorials. Its a new place to post photo tutorials. Don't worry, we will still be posting our videos to YouTube and all tutorials will go to the forums as well.
The fun part about Snapguide, is it's easier for the DT Members to use, it's eaiser for you guys to follow along. Plus once you start following Swirlydoos, you get an email every time we post a new tutorial.

Hello savages! Angelica here today for your Saturday tutorial. I love to layer. And with layering you always need different textures to show the difference in depth. So, today I'm going to share some tips on distressing your paper edges. Now, most of you already know how to do this. Or may wonder how's it done. Also, let's think about the newbies. They may be petrified at the thought of tearing their pretty paper. I know I was!! Here is a photo of the ways I distress my papers. If you layer these on top of each other it's a recipe for success!
1. The Perfectly Punched Edge
I think it's safe to day we all have at least one border punch in our stash. It's easy to use and comes in lots of pretty designs. Just line up the designs and punch. This one here is my all time fav!
2. The Random Punch
Oh yes, this is the one you use when you accidently punch incorrectly. LOL! Or if you just prefer this look! Either way it's a win! Just take your paper and punch punch punch. No lining up!
3. The Lightly Distressed Edge
Cut an uneven wavy line on your paper. Wet a paint brush or q-tip with water and paint the edges. While wet you can easily fold the edges for small tears.
4. The Distressed Edge
For this edge I use the Tim Holz distresser. You just run it across the edge your paper .
5. The Heavily Distressed Edge
This is for the heavy distressing that has deep tears. Good for peeking flowers or lace. I used the Prima distress tool. First I run the paper along the side distresser. Then have at it with the metal piece.
I hope this inspires you to tear your papers for added layers!

Hey Savages,
Kim here today with a video tutorial on mica powder. We've gotten a couple of jars of this fun stuff in our kits (we are getting a really pretty green one in the September kit). I know some of you have been wondering what you can do with it (oh the possibilities are endless).
Well, today I have a quick video showing you how to mix you mica powder with different mediums to create a background. I will use 2 different mediums and create a background on a mini canvas. I'll also tell you how to create mist using your mica powders.
This is just part 1 of the video. I'll be back later to share with you part 2 of the video where we finish the canvas using the mist we made with the mica, plus just the plain mica powder and some more fun mediums.

New month, new week, new layout! Lemme tell ya….It is not easy for the DT members to pick just one layout a week. Our subscribers do such beautiful work!
For this week I chose Peggy’s layout, Happy Girl.
I just couldn’t get past the adorable photo!! The fact that it was taken in 2009 and Peggy scrapped it before was a no brainer recipe for a winner!

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing my latest layouts I made using the August Kit, Sun Kissed. I usually don't scrap with yellow but when it's paired with gray it's a go! This kit is just gorgeous and so unique!
So, first up I wanted to create a page with lots of layers. Starting from the bottom, I white washed the center of the paper. I misted a doily from my stash and tucked it under the damask paper. Then, using strips of paper(mostly scraps)just layered them onto of each other.

For my second page I went more with black, yellow, and a touch of green. I used the leafy vines I made a tutorial for. You can find that HERE. The gorgeous flower vine came in the Flower Add-on. Using the mist from the Mediums add-on, I was able to get it to match my page perfectly.

My name is Cindy Brown alias Talkis on
some Quebec forums. Those who know me say I
am a dynamic girl. Hyperactive by nature I channel my
energy into lots of scrapbooking projects.
I have a boyfriend that I love and two dogs
that I love. No children but waiting, one day. I am very close to my
family. I get my artist inspiration from my grandma talent. She follows me even
on Facebook.
Scrapbooking entered my life in 2006
because I wanted to make an album of my dogs. I found my lss and since then I am a compulsive buyer! I love discovering and
trying new products especially. I want them all !!!!!
I love watching everything around me and
inspires me to create. Making the rounds of blogs and Pinterest is also a
joy for inspiration.I started this passion by making pages and then
I‘m exploring the mixed media to return to pages by adding a touch of
mixed media. I can not say I have a particular style,what I can say is
that I like to explore all avenues.

Hi I'm Bec, a New Zealander who now lives in Brisbane
Australia with my Husband and Daughter. I started scrapbooking after my daughter
was born in 2006 and my passion (and obsession) has grown every year since
then. In the last couple of years I have fallen in love with mixed media
scrapbooking and altered art projects and I spend every spare moment I have in
my craft room. My scrapbook style is very feminine, I love adding tons of
flowers, pearls, glitter and lace to everything I make. I can wait to start on
the Swirlydoos team and create with these amazing kits.
