Hi, everyone! Even though the holidays are over, I've made an Advent calendar using the "All That Glitters" kit, along with some items from my stash and past kits. I love, love, love, the blues and pinks!
The Advent calendar is from Kaisercraft. It's so funny- I thought that this Advent house was super awesome because it has all that extra space at the top, and I ASSUMED it was going to open up, which is ideal for giving the kids larger candies some days! Boy was I WRONG- The top of the house didn't open at all! That just would not do, so I modified it! I sanded the parts that would have normally been glued together on one side, and went to Lowe's and grabbed a small pair of hinges to create an opening at the top.
And this is what the inside of that opening looks like. I added some poinsettias from past Swirlydoos Christmas kits, as well some cotton fluff for the floor. Now, I have a space for larger Advent gifts, and no one is happier about that than my littles!
Here's what the other side that doesn't open looks like:
I added some of the foil ornaments from the specialty paper, and some pearl strands. I kept the design of the boxes pretty basic, using Tim Holtz metal number circles. The frame is from the dollar bin at Michaels- I used two different embossing powders on it to achieve that effect. The image inside the frame is from the kit papers.
Here are the view from the sides:
The side without any boxes had a Memory Box window die, and a Tim Holtz metal wreath from a past kit.
Thanks for checking out the Swirlydoos blog today!

Amazing I'm in love !!!!
Amazing job! I may have to "lift" this idea--lol! I've seen one done where they showed the inside finished, but no indication of how one accessed the area. I have made a business making and selling Advent Calendars mostly on etsy.com and your beautiful creation has inspired me! TFS!
