Today I will be featuring close up photos of my “Serenity” layout. I created many layouts using the Swirlydoos kit, but this one is my favorite.

I use Memory Manager photo editing software from Creative Memories. It is user friendly and is great for storing my hundreds of photos. I used the software to give my daughter’s photo a blue hue. What could be more perfect for a winter layout.

I am not usually a big technique junkie. If I glimmer mist or emboss anything it is a big deal! I decided to buy the Technique Add-on this month because it is time for me to step out of the box! The kit included glimmer mist and glimmer screens that were just beautiful.

I distressed the edges of the top layer to reveal the purple cardstock layer.

I layered lots of pretty white, silver and blue flowers. I also used the beautiful Bo Bunny I Candy brads. I absolutely love them!

List of Products

I used the following kits from Swirlydoos:

Winter Wonderland Main Kit
Glimmer Mist/Embossing Technique Add-On Kit
'Signature' Flower Add-On Kit
Winter Wonderland Embellishment Add On

Thanks for joining me today.

Welcome back everyone. Well it is “Day 6” and I am so happy that you are still with me. Today I will be featuring close up photos of my “My Little Snowflake” layout. I created many layouts using the Swirlydoos kit, but this one gave me trouble! Lol.

It doesn’t look anything like it started out to be. I had a fancy swirl, fancy paper and curved lettering, the works! I just wasn’t happy with the finished page. It seemed as if my photo was disappearing into the patterned paper and my embellishments just weren’t working…what’s a girl to do? Start over, that’s what. Lol!

The title and snowflake border were probably the most time consuming.

I started with white Smooch paint and painted every other snowflake. I then used purple, then blue. Whew! Glad that’s done. I set it aside to dry.

The title letters “SNOW” were cut using my Cricut Storybook Cartridge. Well, actually, the cartridge belongs to my cousin who so kindly let me borrow it. The letters I used for “FLAKE” were included in the Swirlydoos Add-on kit. I lighted inked the letters with Distress ink and then made small lines using my purple Smooch ink.

I cut a snowflake from the snowflake lace-cut cardstock and adhered it to the lower left side of the photo. I then used the snowflake cut out from my Silhouette – snowflake card design. I just love the swirl that design has...like the wind is blowing. I then added a flower and placed a brad in the center.

Welcome back to Day 5. I am so glad that you have joined me. I will be featuring close up photos of my “Snow Beautiful” layout today. The layout is based on the Swirlydoos January kit sketch by the wonderful and talented artist Beggahuna.

Glimmer Mist Snowflake

1. I layered the Creative Imaginations – Magical Snowflake and Bo Bunny Serenity patterned papers.
2. Using the Bo Bunny paper, I used the Tattered Angels glimmer screen (large snowflake design) and sprayed glimmer mist (Haunted Shadow) on the top left side of the page. I then trimmed around the design with my detail scissors.
3. I used white Smooch ink to accent the snowflake design.
4. I adhered the Bo Bunny paper to the Creative Imaginations paper. I did not glue the back of the snowflake design.
5. Using the snowflake sticker from the Bo Bunny Snowy Serenade sticker sheet, glue behind the glimmer mist snowflake so that the points of the snowflake will show.
6. Trim the snowflake sticker with white ink. I used the Inkssentials opaque white pen.
7. Glue the glimmer mist snowflake to the sticker.

I cut the flourish above from the Home Accents Cricut cartridge. I placed it on top of the small cirlce and embellished with a snowflake glimmer chip.

Thanks again for joining me today. Tomorrow I will feature my "My Little Snowflake" layout. Here is a sneak peek.

One of my resolutions for the new year is to make at least two cards each month. I absolutely love cards. I recently purchased a Silhouette Cutter by Quickutz mainly because of their beautiful card designs. You could also achieve the same effect of the snowflake cutout above by using rub-ons, stamps or even punches.

Product List

Two pieces of solid cardstock (I used a light gray and purple)
Bo Bunny Snowy Serenade Collection Patterned Paper - Winter Night
Silhouette - Card Design - Winter Snow (optional)
Spellbinders - Nestabilities Collection - Die Cutting and Embossing Templates - Small Standard Circles
Spellbinders - Nestabilities Collection - Die Cutting and Embossing Templates - Small Classic Scalloped Circles
Distress Ink - Broken China
Ribbon
Foam Squares

Instructions:

Cut a 6x10 inch piece of solid gray cardstock and score in the middle.

Cut a piece of purple cardstock to mount to the inside of the card.

Cut a piece of the Bo Bunny paper to mount on the outside of the card to the left of the die cut design. If you are not using the die cut card design, leave a 1 1/2" solid edge on the right side of the card front. You can leave it plain or decorate with stickers, rub-ons or stamps.

Cut or punch a scalloped circle using the purple cardstock.

Cut or punch a smaller plain circle using the gray cardstock.

Stamp a sentiment to the center of the solid gray circle.

Adhere the smaller plain circle to the purple scalloped circle using foam squares.

Adhere foam squares to the back, left side of the scalloped circle.

Adhere the circles to the middle of the card.

Tie a ribbon to the left edge of the card and tie in a knot.

Thanks for joining me today. See you tomorrow.

Chance loves to relax and he always looks adorable! I took this photo of him just as he was dozing off.

I used my new Silhouette SD cutting machine to create the snowflake frame and lettering. In the photo above you can see where I used Making Memories paint and dry brushed white down the side of the page. I absolutely love the look it gave the layout.

In the photo above you can see the details of the snowflake frame. I added embossing tinsel which was included in the Swirlydoos Glimmer Mist/Embossing Technique Add-On Kit. I also inked several of the snowflakes with Distress Ink (Broken China.) The photo corner is a Glimmer Chip from Tattered Angels - Frosty Memories. I inked the edges with Broken China and I used Glossy Accents to give a beautiful gloss the design.

In the photo above the lettering was cut using the Silhouette. I simply chose a font from Word and cut. I absolutely love my new toy.

I used Distress Ink - Rock Candy Crackle Paint to achieve an icy glaze over the icicles. I had Flower Soft (Ivory) in my stash so I used it for the snow.

Many of you who are familiar with my work will know that I love working with flowers. I couldn't resist using just a few here in the corner. I added Flower Soft (Ivory) to the edges of the blue flowers to give them a wintery feel.

I hope you enjoyed my tips and tricks today.

See you tomorrow.

Here we are on day two. I decided to keep this layout nice and simple. The reason I did this was because...welll...look at that photo!

I really wanted his photo to be the primary focus of the layout. It only need a few embellishments here and there to accent it's beauty.

I used all Bo Bunny products. The alphabet, snowflakes, photo corner, tab and vertical border are all stickers from the Bo Bunny Snowy Serenade - Combo Sticker Sheet. I matted the photo with Bo Bunny Snowy Serenade - Winter Night patterned paper.

I accented the corner of the photo as well as the centers of the snowflakes with three Bo Bunny Ensemble iCandy Brads.

I really enjoyed this collection. It really allows you to create beautiful layouts without spending hours trying to find the perfect embellishments. They are all coordinated for you. Just perfect!

Thanks for stopping by...see you tomorrow.

Hello swirly family!  I am proud to bring you the "Ten Days of Winter" series featuring our beautiful January kit.  I recently featured the layouts on my blog for the first ten days of the year.  I am pleased to bring this series to you with close up photos and a few tips along the way.

Welcome to Day 1!

Aren't these twins adorable! They are my coworker's 2 year old twins. As you can see, they had a ball playing in the snow and plotting to throw snowballs at their dad.

I drew two mountains to give the effect that the twins were playing in the snow. I lightly sprayed each mountain with glimmer mist. One mountain is sprayed with Haunted Shadow and the other is sprayed with Moonlight. I also inked the edges with Broken China distress ink.

I used my Silhouette to cut the title "Winter Wonderland."  Then I sprayed it haphazardly with the Haunted Shadow glimmer mist.

The snowflakes are mounted on purple cardstock which is trimmed in the shape of the snowflake. The large snowflake in the background is from Creative Imaginations and was part of my inventory of madness. I thought it would look great with the papers. The snowflakes were mounted with foam squares for added dimension.

Thank you for joining me today.

There is a new tutorial over at Swirlydoos!! Krissy has put together a great step by step tutorial for a canvas wall hanging!! She used the Canvas Project Add On Kit from the November. It is simply fabulous!! So head on over and go check it out!! This one is fun!! The photo in Krissy's canvas project is of her darling son being lead by his daddy, or it could be the other way around. Either way it is just so precious. Krissy used this photo before, in a layout she did from the Premiere Swirlydoos kit, "Decadence". The journaling was beautiful, and I thought I would share it with you.

Walk alongside me, daddy
and hold my little hand.
I have so many things to learn
that I don't yet understand.

Teach me things to keep me safe
from dangers every day.
Show me how to do my best
at home, at school, at play.

Every child needs a gentle hand
to guide them as they grow.
So walk alongside me, daddy -
We have a long way to go.
