What would Swirlydoos be without our wonderful subscribers?!? It's a pleasure
getting to know these ladies on the forums and from the stories they tell
through their layouts. Yes,we are an amazing community, but most of all, we're a
family! We appreciate each and every member and they deserved to be spotlighted.
With that being said, our featured member for March is.....
*Jeannie von Brauch*
Here is a bit from Jeannie:
My name is Jeannie von Brauch. I've been married to my lovely husband since
1985. We have two grown daughters, ages 23 and 27. They provide me with lots of
scrapping fodder and not always willingly ( I steal things from Facebook, lol)
If you don't want Mom to scrap it, don't post it anywhere Mom goes. We also have
two sweet/annoying doggies...Scout the yorkie, and Bravo the vizsla.
I've always enjoyed drawing and sketching and I've always loved
photos...must have zillions..not that I am in any way a good photographer. My
dad started that by taking photos of everyone, everywhere and I and my 4
siblings took after him...at every family event there were always at least 7
cameras. My sister got me into scrapbooking in 2003 and I loved it right away.
What a great way to help me organize and decorate all these photos. At first my
style was plain and simple and I did lots of multi-pic 2 pagers. Then I started
noticing the beautifully embellished layouts and I fell in love with the
romantic, shabby chic style. A couple years ago I noticed lots of my favorite
artists mentioning Swirlydoos. I checked into that and the rest is history. I
loved the beautiful layouts in the galleries here and knew I wanted to do stuff
just like that when I grow up. I joined at the end of 2011 and I'm so happy I
did. I treasure those kits and being part of the Swirly community. I want to try
some mixed media but I have to admit that still scares me a little. I love
seeing what everyone is doing with pastes and inks and paints and gesso. That's
my next step.
Here are a some of my favorite projects of Jeannie's, sure to inspire you!!
Please come back and visit every first Sunday of the month to
see who our next featured member will be.

Shabby Chic Tag
Happy Saturday to you all! I have a tag to share with you today that I made adapting a Timmy technique that is super shabby chic. I used black gesso for the first time, and I have declared that it is the new must-have medium! And, in the video I'm going to give you a tip about how you can DO SOMETHING with your tags- if you look below, you can see that it's just simple instructions/measurements for a card. :)
So, CLICK HERE to watch the video!
Have a great scrappy day!

Hey lovely ladies, its Miranda here with a altered balsa box to share. There have been SO MANY times i'm in a store and i see pretty napkins and want to use them! Well , I finally did. The possibilities are endless too! For this box i just used the napkin as if it were scrapbook paper. Easy peezy. Then i added lots of the new yummy Prima / Finnabair metals! YUM! I hope you like the project and watch the video :) Hugs!

Here is a bit from Cheryl
Hi! I’m
Cheryl. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart and best
friend for 41 years. We have 3 grown children and 6 amazing
grandkids! They are all fair game for my scrapbook LO’s!
LOL! I started keeping scrapbooks in high school, it wasn’t
until my sister introduced me to what she had done at a CM party in 1997, that I
got into the really artistic part of it. We live 4 ½ hours away
from the nearest scrapbook supplies, so I rely on online shopping for most of my
scrappy goodies. I am a big fan of Robin Schelin’s
work and noticed when she started mentioning “Swirlydoos”, so I had to check it
out. I had never thought about joining a kit club, but this one
just called to me. I loved the style and the kits looked
amazing. It was a perfect way for me to get the latest products
and join a fun community! The first two kits got away from me, but
I have gotten every one since. I actually joined in July of
2009. I have grown so much as a scrapper since joining!
The design team is absolutely amazing and all of the wonderful tutorials
they share with us have taught me so many new techniques! I think
my style is mostly Shabby Chic, but joining in the challenges helps to push me
out of my comfort zone occasionally! I truly enjoy all of the
Swirly savages and feel so lucky to be part of this awesome community!
Here are a some of my favorite projects of Cheryl's, sure to inspire you!!
Please come back and visit every first Sunday of the month to see who our next featured member will be.

Today's tutorial is a simple one, and a selfish one: I am so anxious to see what those of you lucky ladies are going to do with the project kit for January: YES, the recipe box! So, I thought I would share what the interior of my box looks like, and hopefully make you realize how much you want to get started on YOURS!
Remember what the outside of my box looks like?
Wanna see it looks like on the inside now? Well, I can tell you that there is a mask and Silks paints involved, but if you want see it, click on this link:
Thanks for watching, and WHEN you do finish your box, be sure to not only post it to the gallery, but also here. Someone else has already posted one: our amazing Angelica, so go check it out!
