What a most wonderful time of the year....Linda chose to showcase her grandson in this beautiful winter layout. It has such warmth as her grandsons smile just lights up the page. The circular design element brings the feeling of snowballs in the air. The delicate look of icicles is created using the jeweled vines hanging on trim. The misting of red here and there brings out the beauty of the poinsettias. The stitching and distressing just lends a touch of vintage nostalgia to the overall page. It is a perfect winter layout, But oh so warm! Love this one Linda. Beautifully done...

Smile
© Heather Black
A smile is cheer from you to me,
the cost is nothing its given for free.
They console the weary and gladden the sad.
And can make someone happy when they are mad.
Unlike blessings in which we pray
its the only thing you keep when you give it away.

This week we bring to you another gorgeous layout created by Barbara. The photo is of her adorable grand daughter. Just look at those curls! A modern day Shirley Temple. Not to long ago, HSN had shown a new product by Martha Stewart. It is a circle punch. And it is WONDERFUL!!! The larger blue circle in the back and the smaller decorative circles were both punched with the machine. You just change the punches. Until it hits the general public, they are exclusive to HSN. But this isn't about the punch, this is about the beautiful layout Barbara created using her amazing talent. The color contrast of the blue, black and hints of yellow is striking. The flower clusters are just gorgeous and love that little birdies tucked into the clusters. The whole design is just divine. But that smile just lights up the whole layout. Great job Barbara, we totally adore this one!!

Winner
Congratulations.......
Amanda Kurtz
Here's what Manda had to say:
Hi all! My name is Manda and I am a die-hard creator. Artist, I don't know sometimes; a mess-maker, all the time! I am 35 (yikes) and I am happily married and the mom of three wild crazies...I mean wonderful sweeties. I work from home and I scrap in the plethora of spare time I can carve out of the week. It is never enough.
I first want to say thanks! I rarely make cards, this is perhaps my 3rd or 4th card, so to say I am surprised is an understatement! I had great inspiration to work from this month in Linda's wonderful design. I wanted to use bright colors, so I dug around and thought that teal and orange would look cool together, then I used the paper pattern to guide where the card sentiment went. Time. I have a few watch parts, so I picked one from my stash and added the wing charms. I love sticking random things into a flower cluster, so I added the Tim Holtz light bulbs! I really like the way it turned out.
Well Manda, We did too! It is a BEAUTY!!!
Click HERE to go to Manda's blog, to see more of her Beautiful work!!!!!
A new round of our Round Robin for Cards has started and I have got a feeling,
tha we will be seeing lots of Christmas cards, this time.
If you want to, you can see all the fun, in the link below.

What would Swirlydoos be without our wonderful subscribers?!? It's a pleasure
getting to know these ladies on the forums and from the stories they tell
through their layouts. Yes,we are an amazing community, but most of all, we're a
family! We appreciate each and every member and they deserved to be spotlighted.
With that being said, our featured member for December is.....
Inspired by my sister, I started scrapping in late 2008 The plan was to do a
series of family-themed albums. It didn’t take me long to become distracted. I
saw an ad for K&Co Blue Awning paper and, not able to find it locally, I
went online to a certain big box store. There, I discovered an entire new (for
me) way to scrap and a whole bunch of talented scrappers.
I followed one of these talented ladies (Robin aka Robinzbirdz) to Swirlydoos
as it was just starting up in February 2009. One look at the initial “Devine
Decadence” kit and I was hooked; I’ve been a member ever since. Not only are the
kits full of scrumptious goodies, but the “Savages” are an amazing group of
ladies: warm, talented and so generous with their knowledge!!! Through the
years, I’ve made a lot of wonderful friendships here and I am fortunate to meet
up with these ladies from time to time.
As for my style, well, it’s impossible to be a Swirlydoos member and not
learn to become a “fat” scrapper with a healthy dose of shabby chic thrown in.
Add to that the tutorials and tips from the Design Team as well as so many of
the members, and I’m going to have add “experimental” to this: I love trying out
new ideas as well as new products!
Here are a some of my favorite projects of Peggy's,sure to inspire you!!

Thank you, Peggy for being a devoted savage!! ((HUGS))
Please come back and visit every first Sunday of the month to see who our next featured member will be.

I hope you never lose your
sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty-handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance

This week, we present to you an enlightning, enchanting, layout created by Cheryl. Cheryl was pushed out of her comfort zone when she took some tips from Heidi about paints, drips, and splatters. As you can see, Cheryl really had fun in creating this wonderful layout!! The photo of her dear grand daughter dancing in the rain is perfectly complimented with the drips that simulate rain washing through the colors of the flowers. She used Gesso, Silks and Glimmer Mist for her techniques. She describes her creative process as a challenge, fun, and messy...We would love to see you come out of your comfort zone more often Cheryl!! This is beautiful!!!

Happy Saturday, everyone! It's Rae, and today I am sharing a fun little technique I discovered while playing around with the gelatos from the November technique kit using them with Smooch Spritz! Here are two tags that I made using this technique for the background:
So, check out my You Tube Video to see how I did it!
Thanks for watching!
