It's the fourth (and final!) week of Swirly Challenges for November; still time to roll up your sleeves and wake up your mojo!

First, the Sketch Challenge: DT Coordinator Kim has been designing some incredible sketches for us; here's what she's come up with for the Autumn Bloom  kit.

Here's Steph's beautiful take:

And here's Betty's lovely page:

We love seeing what you do with the Swirly Sketches in the Forum. http://www.swirlydoos.com/forums/topic/september-autumn-bloom-sketch-challenge/ We can't wait to see YOUR gorgeous take!

Did you know? Swirlydoos is a CSI sponsor, where it's all about Color, Stories and Inspiration. There are two challenges every month and your Swirly Designers have been busy creating inspirational layouts for the second one. Here's Kim's page:

We've bought the Card Challenge back; why not join in? Cards are not only quick and easy, but they're an excellent way to use up your scraps. This month, we're feeling sentimental, adding a sentiment to the front of our cards. For an extra point, you're invited to create a DIY background. (More details here in the Swirly Forums.) http://www.swirlydoos.com/forums/topic/november-2017-card-challenge-feeling-sentimental/

And now for the ATF (All That Flutters) Challenge - this has always been my favorite and now it's even more so because the hostess is ME!!!
We're doing things a bit differently; we're now running the challenge from the beginning to the end of the month, Swirlydoos kits are not required (but they WILL give your an extra chance to win!) and there will be a RAK given out at the end of each Challenge to one lucky winner selected by random draw. Curious? I've posted all of the details here on the Forum. http://www.swirlydoos.com/forums/topic/november-2017-all-that-flutters-challenge-all-about-family/

We can't wait to see YOUR gorgeous projects!

Hello, Swirly scrappers!

Another month at Swirlydoos, and its my turn to share some projects. The Autumn Bloom kit has the gorgeous papers and blooms from 49 and Market's Cottage Life Collection. I made a couple layouts and has some fun altering the OTP.
My first layout with the kit, I used the Garden Seeds, Cottage Cut Outs paper and did a small amount of background detials. This photo is of the Leeds Castle in Kent, England. I felt the paper works perfect with the greenary and the somber skyline of the photo.

Enjoy the video, I must appologize about the shakyness of the camera. I was at a retreat and the host set me up with the best light in the house. Only it was on a card table. Lesson Learned.

Using the scrumptious blooms and the velium titles that came in the kit for my title. I also used the Distress Oxides from the kit to help obtain the background detials.

For my second layout, I used the sketch challenge as my inspiration.
Sketch challenge autumn bloom
This is a simple and clean layout with minimal backgound work. The paper was just enough to add a few small flower clusters with some fussy cut elements.

Here is another video for you enjoyment, and again I appologize for the shaky camera work.

Another layout based on the Sketch Challenge.

Here are some close-ups

Adding a few details with some stencils and pastes.

The OTP project is a stickles holder. There is some assembly required but once its all put together, it works wonders.

I used some gelli plates to add differnt colours and tesxtures to the OTP. I did a FB live on this project you can find on the youtube channel.

Hello, happy scrappers!

Just stopping by to share my work with the Swirlydoos "Autumn Bloom" collection.

First, I worked on the sketch layout based on Kim's gorgeous sketch for the month.

Here's a few close-ups. I did touch the edges of the flower petals with some Glimmer Mist.

The garden tools were altered with some brown acrylic paint to match the layout better.

Here's Jax all dressed up for Easter.

Ok, I had to scrap another one of him just to show off his 'do. Yes, he did get his ears and feet colored to match his bowtie.

Just a close-up so you can see the altered chippy. I used Rae's technique with Perfect Pearls and embossing powders.

The metallic silver paper was from my stash.

Here's one for the ATF challenge this month. This picture was taken of me on my birthday while I still had Cody. He was my first Bichon Frise.

I did have to add some flowers from my stash and then tucked in some microbeads.

I kept staring at this piece of paper and wondering what to do with it. The flowers were calling for me to fussy cut them but I kept ignoring them. I finally decided to flip the paper on it's side and then just add more flowers to the bouquet already on the page.

Remember Heather's Facebook live page last month? Well, that was the inspiration for this page. I really liked the vertical strips of torn paper and the twine wrapped around the page so I did it on this layout.

Then, I tried some more torn, layered papers with a little bit of lacing.

More cardboard tucked in for dimension and texture.

Here's the lacing with twine.

My dd about 18 years ago with her grandma.

For this one, I decided to white wash the background so it was more subtle.

Then I added some splats of Glimmer Mist.

How about a few cards with the scraps?

These were made with scraps from last two Swirly kits.

Here's a sneak of the Stickles holder. I have a video tutorial that will be published on Saturday, November 25th. Look for it here on the blog and Swirlydoos Youtube channel.

And, here's another project created with the last tidbits of the kit. Look for the video tutorial next month.
