Did you know that here at Swirlydoos, every month we have five challenges to spark your creativity and share your lovely works of art! Here they are:

1. Monthly Sketch Challenge

We have an NEW, exclusive, fabulous sketch designed by the one and only Beggahuna based on the current month's kit. It is revealed with each kit, and you have a month to complete this challenge. Here's this month's sketch designed for "The Paper Doll" kit:
Here is where you can see what others have done with it, including the design team. This challenge ends on August 16th.

2. Swirlyhues Challenge

In addition to the sketch challenge, there is also a color challenge, Swirlyhues, that also coordinates with the monthly kits. The difference is, you don't have to use the kit or the sketch: just the colors! Every month a member of the design team picks out the colors and an optional sketch for inspiration. Typically the challenge begins on the 10th of every month. This month, Angelica is our host, and here is the storyboard she prepared:
Click here to see what the design team and other talented artists have created. And, if you haven't started yet, you have until August 10th to get this done!

3. Angelica's Butterfly Challenge

If you love butterflies, then this is the challenge for you! Angelica provides an opportunity to post your beautiful layouts using the current kit and any butterflies you choose to add to your project. Those are the only requirements! So, if there are butterflies in the kit, use them, or you can even make your own using the butterfly images that Lisa G provides us every month, coordinating with the kit. Here is the inspiration that Ang provides this month:
This challenge ends August 15th!

4. Round Robin Challenge

This challenge is a subscriber hosted, with volunteers who have signed up at the beginning of the year. You do have to sign up for this challenge in advance, typically the last week of the month. The basic idea is that you are assigned to a team; the first person creates a layout (using 50% Swirly kits), and each week, a designated member of the team lifts the layout before them. The hostess provides you with twists that are optional, but may inspire you to try new things. This month, there are five twists! Check out the masterpieces that have been created this month HERE! So, even if you don't participate, it's still fun to watch the transformations! Watch for sign ups for August any day now if you'd like to join us.

 5. SGC (Swirly Girls Challenge)

This is another challenge that is hosted by subscribers who have also signed up in advance. It is a challenge that is completely up to the hostess on what she wants to do; the only restriction is that it must be created using at least 50% Swirly kit stuff. This month, Amber is hosting, and her theme is "Christmas in July". She's challenging us to use techniques that Tim Holtz uses on his 12 Tags of Christmas. Here's the inspiration she has prepared:
And, she is also offering a HUGE prize to the winner. If you want to win it, post your layout by July 30th!

With five challenges going on every month, there is sure to be one that you can try out and use those fabulous kits!

You and I are
Were not tied to the ground
Not falling but rising like rolling around
Eyes closed above the rooftops
Eyes closed we gonna spin through the stars
Our arms wide as the sky
Were gonna ride blue all the way to the end of the world
To the end of the world
The two of us together, we could do anything baby

Dave mathews

Niesia wows us with this wonderful layout. It is just absolutely gorgeous how she incorporated the photo of her precious sons to look as if the window was built into the layout. Incredible!! Look closely, I think they were washing the windows!! I couldn't get a capture like this one if I tried!!
The punching, the layering, and the eyelet work are so creative. The way Niesia scrunched the paper like fabric and secures it with a button with some lace peeking through is lovely. This layout is just oh so sweet!! Congrats! We love this one!!
Hello everyone!
Today I posted a new Card Challenge which contains a new technique.
Creating your own Tattered Doily Stamp

Do you ever save a piece of paper from a kit because you love it so much, you just can't stand to use it in case it would be perfect for a layout down the road? Well, I do! We have a few pieces of paper in the store that fit this description, so if YOU are "saving" these papers, go ahead and buy an extra now so you can use it!
Take this lovely Bo Bunny die cut that came in the Rendezvous kit:

And, now look what you COULD do with it:
(Robin)
(Angelica)

And this Bo Bunny paper from the Venice kit is just timeless:

You could make something like this from Lisa G:

And, there are many other papers in the store that you need multiples of, so go buy some!

Day 2 at CHA,and we cant believe that it is almost over....How sad is that!!! Krissy, Barbara, Kim and I are on a world wind tour of scrappy goodness. and soooo much fun!. We even had a moment or 2 to do get some Make and Takes done today. One of the highlights of the show is watching those top designers do their thing!! Especially when they are demonstrating new product. We even managed to learn a few new techniques that we will be sharing in the future.
Here is our welcome sign. The weather has been hot hot hot. Yesterday topped 105 degrees. But today was much nicer. 90...

These hands were made for scrapping...Guess who!!!

Well if you guessed the Timster, you were right. Watching Tim work his magic is always a treat.

Kim and I managed to sneak in a Make and Take with Anna!!! She is a real sweet heart and a wonderful teacher. Patient, and kind, and oh so good!!! I have never done a layout so fast..And with Anna's tips, it was so darn easy!! Here is Anna and I after the layout lesson.

This is the layout I completed in less than 30 minutes. We used scraps of paper left over from a previous project we did. Who knew that scraps, and little bit of  ink, stamps,  spray and a few flowers and buttons would go a long way!!

Here is Kim and Anna after the layout session.

This is the beautiful layout that Kim did. There were 5 of us taking  the class with Anna, and each one of our layouts was so different and gorgeous. Check out the stamps we used on the layouts. Gorg....That's all I can say.

Here is Barbara doing a Make and Take of a beautiful canvas banner.

Well, I did take pics of some beautiful inspiration, but they will have to wait until I get back to Florida. It's late, and we have to be well rested for our last minute run at CHA in the morning...
Oh yea...One more thing...
We ate, ate and ate again..Thanks to Krissy, who was always hungry...
No matter where we went, Kim and I always ordered a Tiramisu to split for dessert.

 This one was from Giordano's.

This is before the dessert...I was surprised we even had room for dessert after all the food we ate... Deep Dish...yum...

Wednesday out of every month we would like to feature a Swirly Sister's Blog. Our amazing ladies are incredibly talented and work wonders with the Swirlydoo's Kits.

This week our featured Blogger is: Helene

Please visit her blog for Swirly inspiration: Solvi's Scrapping

Helene used the gorgeous Paper Doll Kit to ceate this totally cutsie layout!

Thank you Helene for sharing and inspiring us!!

Today is day 1 of CHA for us. It was basically a work day, so be very patient with us as  we were very very busy...Chasing Krissy down to keep her in one place that is...building your kits isn't an easy task...Not if you want the best of the best!!! All I can say is the inspiration was phenomenal!!! Creatively  Fantastic!! Before I show bits and pieces of what we have seen, let me take you to the FabScraps Booth display. Altered dress forms. Half dress forms. All done with their paper and chip board. Oh my, a little Mod Podge goes a Very long way!! Amazing!!

Here is our dear Lynne working the Petaloo Booth doing a make and take of a fab flower.

And Barbara is ready to begin her lesson in the art of spraying and scrunching Lynne style!!
